The Red KOMODO is a unique, compact digital cinema camera shooting up to 6K resolution from a S35 sensor. Weighing just 900 grams, in a 10x10x10cm cube form factor, the Komodo is considerably smaller than most cameras that output an image of this calibre. Another distinctive feature is the Komodo’s global shutter, which eliminates rolling shutter artefacts and ensures beautiful rendering of motion. With dynamic range on par with DSMC2 cameras, Komodo produces an incredible image - all the more remarkable when you consider it comes at a fraction of the price of the bigger cinema camera systems.

A built in 2.9” touchscreen on the top of the camera provides full camera control and even monitor footage for the most compact of builds. Integrated Wi-Fi offers remote control for iOs + Android via the Red Control system.

With an integrated RF lens mount, you can natively use Canon RF lenses or utilise an adapter for EF & PL mount lenses (we have all options)

Komodo has the ability to capture up to 6K at 40 fps using the powerful 16-bit Redcode RAW format. A change in the codec from DCT to Wavelet based has meant that rather than choose a compression ratio, there are three options - LQ, MQ & HQ. All are high quality, with the upper settings intended for VFX work or the most demanding of post production challenges. You can also shoot R3D in lower resolutions, 5K 48 fps, 4K 60 fps, and 2K 120 fps. Alternatively record in Apple ProRes 422 HQ or standard 422. This is available with DCI 4K up to 60 fps or DCI 2K up to 120 fps.

The KOMODO features all necessary ports for professional video production. For example, integrated stereo microphones and a 3.5mm input for audio. Also, an EXT port provides Genlock, timecode, GPIO and RS232. Finally, a 12G-SDI port will support up to DCI 4K at 60 fps in 10-bit 4:2:2, allowing for Bolt 4K support or high resolution monitoring.
